After a year of work the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois is ready to open its Marion site next month.
A year ago, the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois bought a church on the west side of town to become their new site in Marion.
On December first they will open their doors to its new members.
CEO Tina Carpenter says they’re putting the finishing touches on the building.
“We’re just getting it set up, getting it cleaned up, set up. The painting is done.”
Unfortunately, the pandemic has created a few roadblocks on their way to opening.
Some unexpected repairs that came up, installing egress doors and they’ve been waiting on kitchen cabinets since April.
“We have to put a fire suppression hood in and so the kitchen will not be open for a little bit.”
