A manhunt in Union County ended Tuesday morning.

The sheriff's office says a plainclothes detective spotted the suspect, 26-year-old Dejun Booker, near a residence on Morgan School Road in Jonesboro. Illinois State Police as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service assisted in apprehending Booker at around 10 a.m.

While most people are taking time off in the summer to relax and take vacations, local orchard farmers are keeping very busy.

Rendleman Orchard in Union County is in the middle of harvesting vegetables and peaches during their 143rd season.

At a time when police officers in parts of the U.S. have been under attack, the Union County Sheriff's office says since July 1st, its deputies in the patrol division have been equipped with body worn cameras.

Sheriff Scott Harvel says the deputies will be required to wear the recording devices at all times while on duty and activate the body worn cameras during any interaction with the public.

The ambulance service has added a fourth power cot thanks to a 50/50 matching grant of around $7,500 from the risk management services group known as IPMG.
