A Wichita, Kansas man has been sentenced to nine years in an Illinois prison for charges related to the 2016 shooting of Carbondale Police Officer Trey Harris.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 28-year-old Matthew Manley pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Deliver more than five thousand grams of a substance containing cannabis.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 24-year-old Alex Karcher of Salina, Kansas pleaded guilty to aggravated battery to a police officer; aggravated discharge of a firearm and conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver more than five thousand grams of a substance containing cannabis.

A Kansas newspaper reports charges were dismissed this week against two men that authorities had alleged were conspiring to kill people in Carbondale.

The Salina Journal reports the prosecutor dismissed charges against 25-year-old Xavier Lewis and 22-year-old Xavier McCray. But, the charges were dismissed in a way that would allow them to be refiled.

Carbondale Police say late Sunday/early Monday, Kansas authorities arrested 22-year-old Alex Karcher, 22-year-old Xavier McCray and 24-year-old Xavier Lewis for conspiracy to commit capital murder.
