Southern Illinois University Carbondale is among scores of colleges and universities hosting "virtual" commencement ceremonies or other celebrations to honor graduates, as stay-at-home orders remain in place across the country.

Murphysboro High School is planning on celebrating its 2020 seniors with graduation on May 23.

A longtime film and television star is back at SIU-Carbondale this weekend to receive an honorary degree.

Richard Roundtree - who came to fame as the first black action hero in his portrayal of private detective John Shaft in the 1971 filmĀ  Shaft - will receive a Doctorate of Performing Arts during commencement exercises Saturday, May 12.
