Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has asked federal officials to reconsider their recent denial of Illinois' request for federal aid in the wake of severe storms and flooding in late December and early January.
Governor Rauner's appeal included nearly $1.8 million in additional costs and also detailed additional reasons why Illinois' request for federal assistance is justified. The federal money would be used to assist local governments in the counties most heavily impacted by the storms and flooding.
The counties included in the request are Jackson, Randolph, Alexander, Clark and Cumberland.
