More than 100 people gathered at Carbondale's Turley Park on Sunday to protest the death of George Floyd, as well as racial injustice across the country.
The gathering remembered lives lost to violence, and called for an end to police brutality and racial prejudice.
At one point, the speaker asked those in attendance to kneel and say "I can't breathe" 15 times - the number of times Floyd said the phrase as a police officer kept his knee on his neck.
Numerous cities, including Chicago and St. Louis, have seen protests turn to riots in recent days. Carbondale's vigil remained peaceful, as those who came to Turley Park spoke of peace and justice.
