ZeVeyon Furcron (59) and Bryce Notree (54) celebrate with the team after the Salukis' win over South Dakota

SIU's football team will head to North Dakota this weekend, as the Salukis advanced to the Sweet 16 with their win over South Dakota on Saturday.

The Dawgs forced four turnovers in their 22-10 victory over the Coyotes. The win is key - after the team dropped three of their last four regular season games.

SIU heads into the second round with an 8-4 record on the season - North Dakota State is the number two seed in the playoffs. The Salukis beat NDSU in Carbondale back in February, 38-14.

Southern and North Dakota State are the only two Missouri Valley Football Conference teams left in the playoffs - with South Dakota and Missouri State losing in the first round.

The two MVFC rivals will play at 2:30pm Saturday, December 4.
