SIU held a memorial service for Keeshanna Jackson Wednesday evening.
Dozens of students, staff, administrators and people from the community came out to honor freshman Keeshanna Jackson.
Jackson tragically lost her life early Sunday morning from a gun shot while attending a party.
Three other people also received non life threatening injuries.
Local religious leaders spoke at the memorial encouraging others with messages of positivity, responsibility, healing and hope.
SIU Chancellor Austin Lane spoke about the way Jackson’s friends and family knew and loved her.
“They describe her as a fun to be around and fun to be around and always having something to talk about. She knew what she wanted. She was driven.”
The SIU Foundation established the Keeshana Jackson memorial scholarship fund and a go fund me page to help her family with funeral expenses.
