SIU Carbondale is updating its mask policy to mirror federal and state guidelines.
In a message to the campus, Chancellor Austin Lane thanked students, faculty, and staff for following guidelines over the last year in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Now, Lane says, those guidelines can be relaxed. Fully vaccinated people will not have to wear masks, nor will they have to distance themselves from others.
People who are not vaccinated are still expected to wear masks and distance, and those guidelines will continue to apply to everyone using Saluki Express or at the Student Health Center.
