Today in DuQuoin, The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) in coordination with Farmer Veteran Coalition of Illinois (FVC) is proud to host a Veteran’s Day reception at 6pm. The reception will take place in the Expo Hall on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds today and is open to all veterans. The event will promote IDOA’s Homegrown by Heroes Program and give veterans an opportunity to find out how they can participate in the program.

In Murphysboro, the Oak Street Art Holiday Sale is coming up November 12th. The event includes both an art sale by 16 local artists and a dedication of the Logan Gallery by Murphysboro mayor Will Stevens and Mike Jones, Director of the John A. Logan Museum at 1:00 p.m. Find Oak Street Art on Facebook for event details.

In Mt Vernon, a Candlelight Walk at the Historical Village is planned for November 5th from 5 to 7pm. Enjoy an evening walk by candlelight and experience what life was like before electricity. Walkways will be lined with candles and the buildings and cabins will also be lit only by candlelight.
