ManTra Con & the American Job Center will hold free in person events at Marion Carnegie Library Each Monday and Wednesday in August. Residents of Southern Illinois are invited to the events to receive on-the-spot information and help with things like resumes, job interview tips, GED programs, and so much more. Some may receive services like paid and unpaid work experience, tutoring, and alternative secondary school and GED classes. On Mondays at 1 pm, find information about available resources. On Wednesdays at 2 pm, representatives will be on hand at the library for one-on-one consultations.Registration is required for the Wednesday events and is available by calling Marion Carnegie Library at 618-993-5935. In Carbondale, DemonCon 2022 is planned for October 8th from 6 to 8 at the Varsity Center. Enjoy this Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy convention and film festival celebrating independent short films from the midwest and around the United States.
The festivities will culminate w/ a LIVE stage performance of EVIL DEAD: The Musical by the Stage Company of Carbondale. All short films in the Horror/Fantasy/Sci Fi genres will be accepted as entries. First time and low budget filmmakers are encouraged to submit their work.
