The National Weather Service in Paducah says several inches of snow will fall on southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, western Kentucky, and southwest Indiana Sunday night into Monday.
Forecasters say the snow will likely top six inches in much of the area, but the largest totals will be along and south of the Route 13 corridor in southern Illinois.
In addition to heavy snow, the NWS says cold temperatures will arrive with the snow, and stay in place for much of the week.
IDOT crews were prepping for snow clearing assignments Sunday afternoon, and officials say they'll work through the night.
The Weather Service says Monday morning's commute will be affected by the snow - they're asking anyone who doesn't have to be on the roads to avoid travel until the system moves out of the region.
