A Franklin County man sustained major injuries when his SUV slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 57.
Illinois State Police say the tractor-trailer, driven by 53-year-old Juan Andres Machado of Florida, stopped in traffic at milepost 59 in Williamson County due to road construction around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Machado was not hurt.

An SUV, driven by 20-year-old Dylan Fuene of West Frankfort, failed to reduce speed and rear-ended the tractor-trailer. Fuene was trapped inside his vehicle and firefighters had to extricate him. He was flown to a regional hospital.
