Air travelers using Veterans Airport in Marion will be flying in updated planes beginning Wednesday, as Cape Air unveiled their new Tecnam Traveller.
Airport Manager Doug Kimmel says the new planes will offer more features like air conditioning and USB charging ports. Kimmel adds the new places will be roomier and seat nine passengers and two crew members.
Kimmel says Cape Air is replacing their fleet of Cessna 402 planes which the commuter airline has been using for the past 30 years. Herrin Mayor Steve Frattini was at the unveiling and said having this plane in the fleet is like having a "first-class doormat to southern Illinois."
