As the Federal Government Shutdown enters its second month, over two dozen  guards at Marion Federal Prison had the chance Tuesday morning  to let Illinois Senator Dick Durbin know  what it's like working without getting paid.  Durbin heard stories about having to call lenders and see if they would accept a late payment.  Durbin also heard from one prison guard who said that, due to the sensitive nature of their job, missing payments on household bills or loan payments, could result in that prison guard getting fired.

When asked about President Trump's offer this past weekend, Durbin said the Senate will vote on the President's proposal this Thursday and Durbin said he  wants the Democrats to have a counter offer ready so the Government Shutdown can end.
