The political arm of the United Mine Workers of America has endorsed incumbent Southern Illinois Congressman Mike Bost.
The National Council of Coal Miners Political Action Committee threw its support behind the Murphysboro republican Tuesday at the Coal Miners Memorial Park in Sesser.
The UMWA is the largest union in North America representing coal miners and is one of the largest in the world. The UMWA represents workers in and around underground coal mines, surface mining operations, and preparation plants.
Bost said the endorsement means a lot to him since his grandfather served as president of a mine worker's local almost 50 years ago.
