Toys for Tots will have a new location this year thanks to the city of Carbondale.
For over 70 years the Marines have been making sure kids don’t have a Christmas without presents.
The local toys for tots has been around for 20 years and outgrew their location in Cambria and moved to Carbondale.
“And basically went from about 1000 square feet to over 7000 square feet.
Coordinator Skip Cosgrove says the new location will help them be more effective and will accommodate the 10% yearly increase in request.
The City of Carbondale leased an old public works building on College Street to the organization for the next 10 years.
“They had a building that they weren’t using any longer and we were looking a new location.”
In 2017 toys for tots delivered over 1400 toys to children in Carbondale and over 10,000 in 5 counties across Southern Illinois.
Toys for Tots will have a toy drive at Carbondale Wal-Mart on December 8th and 9th or you can drop off donations at 606 and ½ East College st.
