A southern Illinois man has pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of four Percy children in a house fire last year.

The Randolph County Herald Tribune reports 34-year-old Derrick Twardoski made his guilty plea Wednesday morning.

Twardoski was initially charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of 12-year-old Ethan, 9-year-old Kailey and 5-year-old twins Brandon and Landon Owen in a house fire on May 10, 2013.

Twardoski will be sentenced on October 3.

He is facing up to 60 years in prison and is not eligible for early release.
