Southern Illinois Health Officials Released Update COVID-19 Cases

Southern Illinois Health Officials released updated COVID-19 cases Sunday. 

In Jackson County, a man in his 70s has died from the virus. He becomes the county's third death from the virus. 

Public Health Officials say two other women have also tested positive for COVID-19. One is in her 20s and the other is in her 50s. Both are isolated and doing well.

They got the virus through contact with another person with a known or suspected case here locally. Jackson County has now had 34 positive COVID-19 cases. Nine of those patients have been released from isolation.

In Franklin and Williamson County, health officials there say two new positive cases in both counties. 

A female in her 70’s, from Franklin county and a female teen, from Williamson county, both acquired from community spread and are at home in isolation.

Officials say there have been a total of 11 laboratory confirmed positives in Williamson county and 5 laboratory confirmed positives in Franklin county. 

And in Pulaski County, the Southern Seven Health Department is reporting a new case there, it is a woman in her 40s. Officials say the woman is at home in isolation. But, officials haven't said how she contracted the virus. 

She becomes the fifth positive case of COVID-19 in Pulaski County.
