The town hall will allow community members to get answers to concerns about the vaccine.

The Southern 7 Health Department is holding a virtual town hall about the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, May 25th.

While more than 62 percent of adults in Illinois have received at least one COVID vaccine, the southern Illinois region is lagging behind. Alexander County currently has the lowest vaccination rate in the state, despite weekly vaccine clinics being held since January.

The town hall will give residents an opportunity to ask questions about the COVID vaccine and help the department understand why people may be hesitant to get vaccinated. Guests for the town hall will include IDPH director Dr. Ngoze Ezike, along with doctors from the SIU School of Medicine. The virtual event will be held on Friday, May 25th at 6 pm.
