Illinois State Police say the occupants of a small airplane were not injured when the aircraft landed on Interstate 57 in Pulaski County Monday night.
The two pilots of a Cessna 150 were on approach to land at Cairo airport when the plane experienced an engine failure.
The pilots made and emergency landing onto I-57 southbound near mile post five. Because of the landing, the southbound lanes of I-57 were limited to one lane of traffic for approximately 2.5 hours.
The aircraft was safely towed from the roadway and the F.A.A. is investigating the incident.
