Southeast Missouri State University is reporting a record number of Illinois students in its freshman class.
First-day enrollment figures show 331 new first-time students from Illinois enrolled this fall, nearly a 50 percent increase from fall 2012.
The Cape Girardeau school says it overall freshman class is up over ten percent.
SEMO's total enrollment stands at 11,536, a 1.1 percent increase from this time last year. Preliminary figures indicate it will have its highest retention rate in recent history with 74.3 percent of its new students returning from last fall.
