In response to a need from community leaders in flood-impacted areas, State Representative Brandon Phelps is leading a supply drive to help those hardest hit by the high water.
Phelps says he's gathering supplies himself and is looking for donations, especially cleaning supplies, such as mops, buckets, bleach, rubber gloves and face masks.
"They didn't ask for the flood to come and ruin their house, especially with kids and some of the elderly that are living with them. We want to make sure they go back into an environment which is going to be safe for everybody."
The supply drive is also accepting non-perishable food and clothes for children and adults. Phelps says Ameren will deliver bottled water to flood-stricken areas on Friday.
The supplies can be delivered to Phelps' office in Harrisburg weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and at his satellite office at the Metropolis City Hall on Monday from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.
Donations can be dropped after hours off by calling Phelps' office ahead of time at 618-253-4189.
