As the daily death count from COVID-19 hits a record high in Illinois. Governor J.B. Pritzker is issuing a warning to areas that defy the state's stay-at-home order.

Several areas are considering opening the economy sooner than the Governor's plan call for, which is prompting a stern response.

"Counties that try to reopen in defiance may not be reimbursed by FEMA for damages they cause because they ignored the law. Local law enforcement and the Illinois State Police can and will take action." Pritzker said.

Pritzker said he knows this is very hard on businesses, but the pandemic is far from over.

"to the small minority of businesses that choose to ignore the medical doctors and the data and to ignore your legal obligations of the residents in your communities there will be consequences. Businesses and individual professionals that are licensed by state agencies will be held accountable for breaching public health orders." Pritzker said.

Pritzker also stressed the 192 reported deaths Wednesday, and says the number of deaths should be a sign the state needs to follow the 5 Phase Reopen Guidelines.
