Popular Turkey Hotline Based in Illinois

If you're in need of a little help preparing your turkey for Thanksgiving... calls to the Butterball Turkey Talk hotline are answered right here in Illinois.

The call center is on the fifth floor of an office building in Naperville, where 62 staffers will field 100-thousand inquiries from now through Christmas Eve.  Call Supervisor Mary Clingman says they anticipate about 12-thousand calls on Thanksgiving. Clingman says everyone on the call staff has some type of professional foods background from professional chefs to home-ec teachers, and dietitians. She says they've been answering the phone for 33 years, offering advice on de-frosting, cooking, preserving a turkey until the guests arrive, making gravy and stuffing, and what to do with leftovers.

The Turkey Talk number is 800-288-8372. Hours are 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, then 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until Christmas Eve.
