Police have recaptured an escapee from a southern Illinois jail.

Forty-three-year-old James Earl Bailey escaped Elkville police custody Thursday night. A resident along Chamness Road spotted him Friday afternoon.
The Jackson County K-9 unit found Bailey. After being cleared by a local medical staff, he was transported to the Jackson County jail.

Bailey is being held on charges of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and escape. His bond is set at $500,000.
