Even though the manhunt is over in the Shawnee National Forest, parts of the federally managed land will remain closed for a few more days.
A week-long manhunt involving Dracy "Clint" Pendleton ended Sunday when he was found dead in the forest following a shootout with police.
Officials at the forest headquarters in Harrisburg say several areas of the forest will remain closed until later this week to allow law enforcement authorities to investigate the area as a crime scene. This includes the Lusk Creek Wilderness area, which police believe Pendleton used as a hideout.
Forest officials say they will update their Facebook page and website to keep people informed about when the sites will reopen to the public.
