Illinois reported 974 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the first time the new case count dipped below 1,000 since early April. While one day's totals don't indicate a trend, health leaders say they're hopeful the numbers will continue to drop.
The state's total infections now tops 120,000 - at 121,234 positive cases. In addition, 23 new deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 5,412.

Effingham County Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- 7 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.
- 580 negative tests results.
Egyptian Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 11, with 10 recoveries.
- 984 tests administered in the three-county service area
Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:
- 4 new cases reported - one man in his 30s, two men in their 70s, and a woman in her 90s.
- Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 68, with 53 recoveries and one death in Williamson County, 12 cases with 12 recoveries in Franklin County.
Jackson County Health Department:
- 4 new cases reported - one woman in her 30s, a woman and a man in their 40s, and a man in his 70s.
- Jackson County's total positive test count is 286, with 196 recoveries and ten deaths.
Jefferson County Public Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Overall there have been 104 positive cases of COVID-19, with 90 recoveries and 14 deaths.
- 1392 negative test results.
Marion County Health Department
- No new cases reported.
- Overall, there have been 51 positive cases of COVID-19, with 50 recoveries.
- 1,364 negative test results.
Perry County Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Overall, 42 positive cases of COVID-19, with 39 recoveries.
- 712 negative test results.
Randolph County Health Department:
- 1 new case reported.
- 11 active cases, with 11 isolating at home and one hospitalized.
- Overall, 271 positive cases of COVID-19, with 256 recoveries and four deaths.
- 1,414 negative test results.
Richland County Public Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries in Richland County. Two cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
- 848 negative test results.
Southern Seven Health Department:
- 12 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s and a man in his 80s from Johnson County; a man in his 20s, two men in their 30s, and two men in their 40s from Pulaski County; a woman and two men in their 20s, and two women in their 50s from Union County.
- Overall, Southern Seven reports 238 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 93 recoveries and 11 deaths.
