Live 12th District  Congressional Debate at WSIU-TV is Wednesday, August 15

Carbondale, Ill. -- Reporters, camera crews, and photographers are invited to cover a live congressional debate between 12th District Democratic candidate William Enyart of Belleville, Republican candidate Jason Plummer of O'Fallon, and Green Party candidate Paula Bradshaw of Carbondale on Wednesday, August 15, at 7pm in WSIU-TV's Studio A, located in Room 1065 of the Communications Building, 1100 Lincoln Drive, Carbondale.

WSIU-TV's Jak Tichenor will moderate the debate, with questioning from Jennifer Fuller of WSIU Public Radio, Gary Metro of the Southern Illinoisan newspaper, and Beth Hundsdorfer of the Belleville News-Democrat newspaper.

The one-hour debate will air live on WSIU-TV and WSIU Radio, and will be streamed live at thesouthern.com and bnd.com.

Public and commercial TV and radio stations will be allowed to air the debate within 48 hours of the event, but will not be permitted to air the debate live.

Credentialed members of the news media will be allowed in the studio before the debate for set-up shots, group shots, etc., but must leave the studio five minutes prior to the debate start time. News media will be provided with working space in WSIU-TV's Studio B, which is adjacent to Studio A. WSIU will provide a mult. box with video and audio feeds for broadcast reporters in Studio B, along with tables and chairs. Reporters can return to Studio A after the debate for separate news conferences to be held be each of the candidates

Internet access:  A wifi hotspot will be active in Studio B during the evening of the broadcast. WSIU's Information Technology staff will provide the appropriate access information upon your arrival.

Important:  Because of the limited size of our facility, this event is not open to the general public. You must present a photo ID or business card issued by your news media outlet to be granted access to the studio complex. 

Directions Come to the west door of the Communications Building (Daily Egyptian entrance) and follow the signs to the studios. A check-in table will be set up in the hallway outside the studios so that you may receive the necessary credentials to enter the studio facilities.
