WSIU, SIU Summer Children's Film Series Continues

Next event: Friday, July 5 at Eldorado Memorial Public Library

Carbondale, Ill. -- Reporters, photographers, and camera crews are invited to cover free screenings of award-winning Prix Jeunesse International children's films at regional libraries this summer. The films are being shown as part of the summer library reading program, “Have Book, Will Travel”. The SIU College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, WSIU Public Broadcasting, the SIU Global Media Research Center, and the SIU Center for International Education are presenting the films in conjunction with regional libraries.

The next screening is this Friday, July 5 from 1-3pm at the Eldorado Memorial Public Library in Eldorado, Illinois and will feature films for children ages 6 and older. Films scheduled are Once I Dreamt from Mexico, Grubz Up! from Ireland, and Raththi (The Cow) from Sri Lanka.

When available, individuals from countries represented in the films will meet and interact with children and parents at the screenings, courtesy of the SIU Center for International Education. Special book titles representing countries featured also will be available to families.

The complete “Have Book, Will Travel” schedule, with locations, dates, times, and films to be featured, is available online at http://mcma.siu.edu.
