John A Logan College's Board of Trustees will consider a plan Wednesday that would mean the loss of 55 jobs at the Carterville school.
Citing the state's budget impasse, leaders say they need to eliminate 15 non-teaching professional staff positions, eight non-tenured faculty and 27 tenured faculty, and five Teamsters staff members.
The Board meets in special session Wednesday evening to consider the administration's recommendations.
Logan and other community colleges and universities in Illinois have now gone eight months without state funding - and next year's funding is uncertain.
