A southern Illinois volunteer is getting statewide recognition for her efforts.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Illinois says Ginney Donney was named the Illinois Big Sister of the Year. Donney works with the southern Illinois branch of the organization, which focuses on Jackson and Perry Counties.
The organization says Donney has been working with young people since 1998, and was matched with her current “little sister” five years ago.
Donney now competes for the national award, which will be announced later this spring.
