A Jackson County jury has found a Carbondale man guilty of Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon, following a three-day trial.
The Jackson County State's Attorney says 22-year-old Dayshawn Holmes faces two to ten years in prison.
In June, detectives with the Carbondale Police Department, working with two confidential sources, arranged to purchase an illegal firearm from a targeted individual in an apartment in Carbondale. During the gun deal, Holmes was seated next to the target with two handguns providing “security” for the deal. Holmes has two felony burglary convictions and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Holmes remains in the custody of the Jackson County Sheriff pending sentencing.
