Illinois Primary Election Will Be Held As Scheduled

Governor J-B Pritzker says Tuesday’s Illinois primary election will go on as scheduled.

The Coronavirus won’t close the polls…but the governor has this advice.
"I'm encouraging all local election authorities to expand the hours of early voting every day until Election Day. Voting early usually means avoiding any crowds. You should take advantage of that if you don't want to wait until Election Day."

He says you can also get a mail-in ballot from your local election office.

"For those of you who plan to vote on Election Day, please know that local clerks and Boards of Election are working diligently to insure that polls operate smoothly and safely. The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a guidance specifically for polling places, to make sure that election judges, volunteers and voters are healthy and safe."

Election authorities have been working to move polling places usually set up in some nursing homes to other locations.
