Illinois Adds 2,268 New COVID-19 Cases (May 21)

Illinois' count of positive COVID-19 cases grew by another 2,268 on Thursday, bringing the state's overall total to 102,686.

The day's announcement also added 87 deaths, putting Illinois' death toll at 4,607.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (5:30pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Six overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.
  • 449 tests have been administered.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 10, with 10 recoveries.
  • 790 tests have been administered in the three-county service area.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • One new case - a woman in her 90s in Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 56, with 41 recoveries and one death in Williamson   County, 11 cases with ten recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • Four new cases reported - two women in their 20s, and two men in their 20s.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 195, with 161 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 102 positive cases of COVID-19, with 86 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 1,081 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department

  • One new case - a man in his 60s who is isolating at home.
  • Overall, there have been 51 positive cases of COVID-19, with 44 recoveries.
  • 1,078 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 40 positive cases of COVID-19, with 36 recoveries.
  • 520 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • Three new cases reported.
  • 46 active cases, with 42 isolating at home and four hospitalized
  • Overall, 256 positive cases of COVID-19, with 207 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,402 tests have been administered.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries.
  • 727 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 186 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 72 recoveries and four deaths.
