The Illinois Department of Insurance is reminding there's help for those who have lost their job...and subsequently their health care.
Get Covered Illinois executive director Laura Pellikan says if you no longer have job-based coverage or your Cobra benefits have expired, you may quality for the health insurance marketplace's special enrollment period.

"Most people have had up to 60 days to enroll from the date that they lost their health coverage. You can visit getcovered.illinois.govand click on shop/enroll. That's how you can find out if you qualify for a special enrollment period. At that time, you'll also find out if yu're eligible for coverage through Medicaid or the Children's Healthcare Insurance Program."

Pellikan says if you haven't lost your insurance yet but expect to...you can enroll before your coverage ends.
