Healthcare Task Force Meeting Set

www.healthcare.gov

A governor's task force is scheduled to meet to hear about the progress and problems of the rollout of the national health care law in Illinois.

Last week, federal officials reported that only 1,370 Illinois residents managed to submit an application and select a private health plan on the troubled HealthCare.gov website.

The Health Care Reform Implementation Council will meet Tuesday via teleconference in Chicago and Springfield. The agenda includes a look at the Illinois health insurance marketplace, Medicaid expansion and efforts to prevent fraud.

The task force was created by Gov. Pat Quinn in 2010 and is headed by Quinn's senior health policy adviser, Michael Gelder. It's made up of state government officials who head departments related to health care and insurance.
