The race for the democratic nomination in the 12th congressional district is down to two candidates.
Tuesday Chris Miller of Carbondale officially ended his bid for the nomination and threw his support behind former St. Clair County regional schools superintendent Brad Harriman of O'Fallon. Harriman accepted Miller's endorsement, calling his service in the Iraq War, humbling. Harriman says - if elected - he will follow the lead of retiring 12th District Congressman Jerry Costello and work with both parties to create jobs and boost economic development for the middle class. He says change is within reach.
Harriman has also received Costello's endorsement as well as a number of labor organizations. Harriman and retired businessman Ken Wiezer of Granite City are the only two candidates actively contending for the Democratic nomination in the 12th District.
The Republican candidates are businessman Jason Plummer of O'Fallon; former Belleville mayor Rodger Cook; and Theresa Kormos, a registered nurse from O'Fallon.
