Springfield, IL – GOVERNOR ROD BLAGOJEVICH'S ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY (Fri) THAT HE WANTS TO MOVE MORE THAN 100 STATE TRANSPORTATION JOBS FROM SPRINGFIELD TO SOUTHERN ILLINOIS IS DRAWING SHARP CRITICISM FROM SPRINGFIELD LAWMAKERS.
SPRINGFIELD REPUBLICAN SENATOR LARRY BOMKE SAYS NO MATTER WHAT THE GOVERNOR SAYS... THE FIGHT TO KEEP THE POSITIONS IN THE CAPITAL CITY WILL KEEP GOING.
THE BLAGOJEVICH ADMINISTRATION HAS ARGUED THE DIVISION'S CURRENT LEASE IS TOO COSTLY. BUT BOMKE AND OTHER LOCAL LAWMAKERS SAY THEY'VE FOUND PLENTY OF SPRINGFIELD LOCATIONS THAT COULD HOUSE THE WORKERS AT A CHEAPER AMOUNT.
A PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE MOVE WILL BE HELD IN SPRINGFIELD JULY 31ST.
