Former Fairfield Track Coach Sentenced to 20-Years in Prison

Illinois State Police

A former Fairfield math teacher and track coach will spend 20-years in prison for attempted sexual exploitation of minors.

The US Attorney’s office says 44-year old Timothy Going was sentenced Monday.   Going was arrested in July after school officials discovered a hidden video camera above a bathroom stall in the girl’s locker room at Fairfield High school.   A forensic examination of the camera showed it had been placed in several locations within the girl’s locker room.  Other images showed members of the girls cross country team recorded in a hotel bathroom during overnight competitions in 2012 and 2013.

US Attorney Steve Wigginton says so many aspects of this case are simply "disgusting" and he hopes the long sentence given to Going will send a powerful message to those who might want to take advantage of a position of trust.    Going must also serve 15-years of supervision following his release from prison.
