Another second-generation politician has been appointed to the 116th House District seat in southern Illinois.
Democratic county chairmen Thursday voted to appoint Nathan Reitz of Steeleville, son of former State Rep. Dan Reitz, to the vacancy created by the resignation of former State Rep. Jerry Costello II. He is the son of former 12th district congressman Jerry Costello. The younger Costello resigned this week to take an appointment from Governor J.B. Pritzker in the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Following his swearing in, Reitz, in a statement, wrote, having spent his career in the energy industry, he is determined to help grow the local economy and making the decisions to help create new jobs. He vowed to protect Second Amendment rights, and provide tax relief.

No word yet where he is on a graduated income tax, which Costello opposed, cannabis legalization or the other major issues the governor is pushing right now.
