DuQuoin State Fair Opens Friday

Now that the Illinois State Fair in Springfield is over, it's time for the Du Quoin State Fair, which starts Friday night and runs through Labor Day.
Shannon Woodworth is hoping to break even in his first year as manager after 14 years as an employee at the Du Quoin event. He says having a second State Fair in Illinois is important, particularly in an area without the other tourist draws of Springfield.

Woodworth says the economic impact on the region is $20-30 million.

Woodworth's particularly excited about Foreigner on the grandstand stage. He says based on advance ticket sales, Saturday's concert will be the biggest show there since Kenny Chesney performed in 2001.

It costs seven dollars to park and nothing to get in.
