Daily Update: Ahead of Phase 3, Illinois Logs 1,527 New COVID-19 Cases (May 28)

The state's overall COVID-19 cases topped 115,000 on Thursday, as 1,527 new cases were reported.

Illinois Department of Public Health Director Doctor Ngoze Ezike also reported an additional 104 deaths, bringing the overall death toll to 5,186.

The state reports 829,966 tests have been administered - nearly 26,000 in the last 24 hours.

Governor JB Pritzker says the entire state is still on track to enter Phase 3 of the "Reopen Illinois" plan. He also says tracking numbers will begin again in each region, allowing each region to move to a new status separate from each other.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (5:10pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 50s.
  • 7 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.
  • 580 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 11, with 10 recoveries.
  • 894 tests administered in the three county service area

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • 2 new cases - a teen girl and a woman in her 70s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 60, with 45 recoveries and one death in Williamson   County, 12 cases with 11 recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • 12 new cases reported - a teen/pre-teen girl, two women in their 20s, three women and three men in their 30s, one woman and one man in their 40s, and one man in his 50s.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 260, with 190 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 104 positive cases of COVID-19, with 87 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 1268 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 51 positive cases of COVID-19, with 49 recoveries.
  • 1263 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported -  a man in his 50s.
  • Overall, 42 positive cases of COVID-19, with 38 recoveries.
  • 637 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • 25 active cases, with 24 isolating at home and one hospitalized.
  • Overall, 267 positive cases of COVID-19, with 238 recoveries and four deaths.
  • 1,291 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries in Richland County. Two cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
  • 817 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 1 new death - a man in his 90s from Union County.
  • 5 new cases reported - a teen girl, a woman and a man in their 30s, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 216 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 88 recoveries and eight deaths.
