Daily COVID Update: (July 22)

The state's COVID-19 totals rose again on Wednesday, with 1,598 new cases reported. Additionally, another 23 deaths attributed to the disease were recorded.

Overall, Illinois' total infections now stand at 165,301, with 7,347 deaths.
Statewide, Illinois has now processed 2.35 million tests, with a positivity rate of 3.2% for the past week (July 15-21).

In addition, health officials say 1,456 were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 337 were in the ICU, and 132 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (9:30pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with eight recoveries.
  • 1,046 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 2 new cases reported - a man in his 40s and a woman in her 50s.
  • 27 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 19 recoveries.
  • 1,012 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 7 new cases reported - two teen girls, a woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s, a man in his 50s, a woman in her 70s, and a man in his 80s.
  • 54 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 39 recoveries and one death.
  • 3,796 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 8 new cases reported - a teen girl, a man in his 30s, a woman in her 40s, and a man in his 80s from Gallatin County; a woman in her 40s, and a man and a woman in their 60s from Saline County; a woman in her 60s from White County.
  • 125 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 33 recoveries.
  • 3,890 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 20s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 40 cases with 28 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,969 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 6 new cases reported - a man and a woman in their 20s, two men and one woman in their 50s, and a man in his 70s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 81 cases with 45 recoveries in Franklin County, and 221 cases with 150 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 11 overall positive cases, with six recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 3 new cases reported - two women and one man in their 20s.
  • Overall, there have been 431 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 340 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 49 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 41 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,093 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 60s.
  • Overall there have been 146 positive cases of COVID-19, with 118 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,267 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 2 new cases reported - a man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s.
  • Overall, 28 positive cases, with seven recoveries.
  • 959 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - a man in his 20s, a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, and a man in his 60s.
  • Overall, there have been 101 positive cases of COVID-19, with 80 recoveries.
  • 3,870 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • Overall, 70 positive cases of COVID-19, with 61 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,447 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • 7 new cases reported
  • Overall, 386 positive cases of COVID-19, with 316 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 4,514 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 10 positive cases of COVID-19, with nine recoveries in Richland County.
  • 4,583 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 6 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s from Alexander County; a man in his 80s from Hardin County; a teen girl and a woman in her 30s from Johnson County; a girl in her teens and a man in his 20s from Massac County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 442 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 266 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 6,850 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 17).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 25 positive tests have been recorded.
  • 1,110 tests administered.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall, 27 positive tests have been recorded, with 14 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,234 negative test results.
