Daily COVID Update: (July 21)

Illinois' COVID-19 cases rose by 955 Tuesday, and the state added 23 more deaths attributed to the coronavirus.

Overall, Illinois' total infections now stand at 163,703, with 7,324 deaths.

Statewide, Illinois has now processed 2.31 million tests, with a positivity rate of 3.1% for the past week (July 14-20).

In addition, health officials say 1,466 were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 320 were in the ICU, and 142 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (4:35pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with six recoveries.
  • 1,042 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 25 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 18 recoveries.
  • 1,001 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 47 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 31 recoveries and one death.
  • 3,710 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 6 new cases reported - a boy under 10, a man in his 30s, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 70s from Saline County; a man in his 30s and a man in his 80s from White County.
  • 117 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 28 recoveries.
  • 3,522 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 39 cases with 27 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,939 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 3 new cases reported - a teen girl, and a man and a woman in their 20s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 81 cases with 45 recoveries in Franklin County, and 215 cases with 150 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 11 overall positive cases, with six recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 3 new cases reported - two men in their 20s, and a man in his 60s.
  • Overall, there have been 428 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 338 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 49 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 41 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,095 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 1 new case reported - a man in his 20s.
  • Overall there have been 145 positive cases of COVID-19, with 115 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,201 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 2 new cases - a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s.
  • Overall, 26 positive cases, with seven recoveries.
  • 959 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s, a man in his 40s, and two women in their 50s.
  • Overall, there have been 97 positive cases of COVID-19, with 78 recoveries.
  • 3,786 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • Overall, 70 positive cases of COVID-19, with 61 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,447 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • State health officials confirm an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Chester Mental Health Center, where 5 patients and 27 staff members have tested positive.
  • Overall, 375 positive cases of COVID-19, with 306 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 4,514 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported
  • Overall, 10 positive cases of COVID-19, with nine recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,552 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 5 new cases reported - a woman in her 50s and a woman in her 60s from Alexander County; a man in his 40s, a man in his 50s, and a man in his 60s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 436 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 263 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 6,850 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 17).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 2 new cases reported.
  • Overall, 25 positive tests have been recorded.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall, 27 positive tests have been recorded, with 14 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,234 negative test results.
