Daily COVID Update: (July 17)

Another 1,384 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Illinois on Friday, along with 22 new deaths attributed to the disease.

The new totals bring the state's overall case count to 159,334, with 7,272 deaths.

Friday also marked the second consecutive day with more than 40,000 tests processed statewide. Illinois has now processed 2.17 million tests, with a positivity rate of 3.0% for the past week (July 10-16).

In addition, health officials say 1,431 were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 309 were in the ICU, and 128 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (5:45pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 8 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries.
  • 969 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 2 new cases reported - a boy under 10, and a woman in her 70s.
  • 23 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 18 recoveries.
  • 937 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 6 new cases reported - a teen boy, a teen girl, a man in his 70s, and two women in their 70s. In addition, a woman in her 80's, who tested positive after she died.
  • 43 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 26 recoveries and two deaths.
  • 3,008 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 9 new cases reported - a teen boy and a woman in her 70s from Gallatin County; two women in their 30s, a woman in her 40s, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 70s from Saline County; a boy less than 10 and a woman in her 30s from White County.
  • 75 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 23 recoveries.
  • 3,066 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 3 new cases reported - a man and a woman in their 20s, a man in his 60s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 33 cases with 20 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,867 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 7 new cases reported - a man in his 20s, and a woman in her 50s from Franklin County; two women in their 20s, a woman in her 40s, and a man and a woman in their 50s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 68 cases with 38 recoveries in Franklin County, and 188 cases with 133 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 8 overall positive cases, with 5 recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - a man and a woman in their 20s, a man in his 30s, and a man in his 50s.
  • Overall, there have been 382 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 324 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 48 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 40 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,028 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - a teen girl, two men in their 20s, and a woman in her 30s.
  • Overall there have been 135 positive cases of COVID-19, with 101 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 3,988 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 3 new cases reported - a teen girl, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 40s.
  • Overall, 22 positive cases, with seven recoveries.
  • 959 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 7 new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 89 positive cases of COVID-19, with 76 recoveries.
  • 3,277 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • Overall, 65 positive cases of COVID-19, with 58 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,310 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • 4 new cases reported.
  • Overall, 356 positive cases of COVID-19, with 287 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 4,143 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 10 positive cases of COVID-19, with five recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,423 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 1 new death reported - a woman in her 90s from Union County.
  • 7 new cases reported - a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 70s from Alexander County; A woman in her 40s from Hardin County; a man in his 60s from Johnson County; a woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s, and a woman in her 60s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 397 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 251 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 6,850 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 17).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 23 positive tests have been recorded.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall, 20 positive tests have been recorded, with 13 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,234 negative test results.
