Daily COVID Update: (July 16)

An additional 1,257 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Illinois on Thursday, and the state added 25 more deaths from COVID-19.

The new totals bring the state's overall case count to 157,950, with 7,251 deaths.

The state has now processed 2.12 million tests, with a positivity rate of 3.1% for the past week (July 8-14). In addition, health officials say 1,434 were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 311 were in the ICU, and 127 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (5:45pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 8 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with two recoveries.
  • 954 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 21 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 18 recoveries.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 37 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 26 recoveries and one death.
  • 3,008 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 13 new cases reported - a woman and a man in their 60s from Gallatin County; a woman in her 20s, two women in their 30s, four women and one man in their 50s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 70s from Saline County; a man in his 90s from White County.
  • 66 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 23 recoveries.
  • 2,689 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 30 cases with 20 recoveries and three deaths.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 15 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s, two women in their 40s, a man and two women in their 50s, a man and a woman in their 60s, and a woman in her 70s from Franklin County; a boy under 12, a teen boy, a man in his 20s, two men in their 40s, and a woman in her 50s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 66 cases with 38 recoveries in Franklin County, and 183 cases with 133 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 8 overall positive cases, with 5 recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 8 new cases reported - five women in their 20s, a man in his 30s, and a man and a woman in their 50s.
  • Overall, there have been 378 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 320 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 48 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 39 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 997 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 131 positive cases of COVID-19, with 101 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 3,912 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 4 new cases reported - a teen boy, a man in his 20s, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 40s.
  • Overall, 18 positive cases, with five recoveries.
  • 906 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 82 positive cases of COVID-19, with 74 recoveries.
  • 3,194 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • 2 new cases reported - a man in is 20s and a man in his 70s.
  • Overall, 65 positive cases of COVID-19, with 58 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,310 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • Overall, 332 positive cases of COVID-19, with 285 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 3,966 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • Overall, 10 positive cases of COVID-19, with 4 recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,372 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 11 new cases reported - a woman in her 50s and a woman in her 80s from Hardin County; a girl under 5, a teen girl, a man in his 30s, and two men in their 50s from Johnson County; a woman in her 80s from Pope County; a man in his 20s from Pulaski County; a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 50s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 391 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 244 recoveries and 17 deaths.
  • 6,762 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 16).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall, 23 positive tests have been recorded.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall, 20 positive tests have been recorded, with 13 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,234 negative test results.
