Crownline Boats to Layoff 200 Employees

Crownline Boats

The parent company of a West Frankfort Boat manufacturer says about 200 employees will be laid off later this month.

In a written release Leisure Properties, LLC says the layoffs at Crownline Boats are expected to be temporary. They’re scheduled to begin on Monday, June 17th.  The company says the layoffs are due to unusual and calamitous weather patterns throughout the U-S that have resulted in an unpredictable downturn in the market for pleasure boats like those manufactured by Crownline.

Crownline builds a series of 18 to 34 foot stern drive boats. Crownline has been manufacturing boats in West Frankfort since 1991.  It went through a similar layoff in 2006 involving some 90 employees.
