Centerstone Receives $2.1 Million Grant

Logo

A southern Illinois social service agency is getting more than two million dollars to better support children's mental health needs in the region.

Centerstone will use the $2.1 million award from the Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation to bolster its programs focusing on resiliency and trauma-informed care. Leaders say those programs help teachers, community members, and others interact with the whole child and understand what they may be dealing with in other situations.

The six-year grant will include collaboration with SIU's School of Medicine, Shawnee Health Service, Southern Illinois Healthcare, and numerous schools and community organizations. If you'd like more information on the "Building Compassionate Communities" initiative, contact Centerstone at their website - www.centerstone.org.

Jennifer Fuller joined Capitol News Illinois in July 2023 as the organization’s broadcast director. She will oversee the launch and operations of CNI’s new broadcast division.
