A Carbondale man received a 15-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
The Jackson County State's Attorney says in May 2019, 37-year-old Eric Brown was in the processing area at the Carbondale Police Department when he took out a firearm hidden in his waistband. Brown then fired the firearm at a police officer. The officer was not hit and did not sustain an injury. After approximately three hours of negotiations, Brown surrendered the firearm.

Video cameras in the processing area of the department captured the incident.
